Trainees from VESID are employed

The copy center and office training group of young adults who are 21 years of age and over have aged out of programs. Two of our trainees from VESID (vocational education) have been employed and are extremely happy with their jobs. It is rewarding that their employers are also delighted. These people from Spot Free Inc., Brian and Ester Garcia Duran have been wonderful. One of our young adults is doing data collection on the computer and the other is doing filing and other jobs in the office. Both receive paychecks weekly and are working 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. We are extremely grateful to Spot Free and the Durans.

The third component of this unique program is a Day-Habilitation program for those consumers who are not work ready. However, having aged out of school programs they require ongoing programs to meet their needs. We are hoping that some will be able to train further in work skills and also work as volunteers. They need continuation of programs since school is over and there is no other place to develop new skills and maintain old ones. This continuum is absolutely necessary.
