Parent and Sibling Support Group
Special Citizens has initiated a Parent and Sibling Support Group. With the explosion of the condition of autism in all variations, whole families require assistance and instruction in order to receive ongoing services. Dr. Terry Tolk, has for the past six to eight months held group meetings at the WOWY site. We are hopefully going to expand these services to both Bronx sites as well as Manhattan.

WOWY
Update (+ Past News WOWY Opening)
(WOWY =
WONDER OF WONDERS, YES)
As our friends and supporters know, in November, 2005 WOWY
opened its doors with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres
party. The visitors were amazed at the creative talents of our artists.
Next, in January of 2006, Jim Watkins from Channel 11 News did a
news piece about WOWY and its artists (click below or on the artwork
for more information about WOWY). WOWY continues to be a
great program, providing a fantastic creative, learning and
work opportunity for all involved.

Co-founder David Zatlow passed away
Sadly, on December 10th our co-founder, David Zatlow passed away following a very long illness. We have lost the dedication and support given through the years by David. His ongoing efforts on behalf of Special Citizens were gratefully acknowledged always. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held in the very near future to celebrate his life and his participation on the Board and all the many other things he did for Special Citizens. Our next group home will be called the David Zatlow Residence. The site was unanimously approved by the Community Board 8 in Riverdale.

Deatrice was an hysterical old cleaning lady shuffling along, and Horace was Charlie Chaplin. Cynthia was a bar wench and so it went. The costumes were funny and everybody had a fantastic time.
